Friday 9/2

50 in 5
In groups of four or five, we brain-stormed 50 every-day tasks that are challenging for people with certain disabilities.  We realized that some of our ideas weren't really practical opportunities for us to create real-life solutions.  After the brainstorm, each group chose three examples that they thought would be good ideas to work with.  But after  a peer-feedback session, we determined that even some of those were too vague or not practical for our class.

Disability Experience.
Last class we saw a video about a guy who is simulating the difficulties of old age by wear darkened goggles, sound-dampening ear muffs, arm and ankle weights and special gloves.

We did our own simulation today.  There were several stations where we could experience some of the challenges that those with disabilities experience when they try to do every day tasks.  We worked with a partner who helped record our experience.  In addition to the impairments mentioned above, we tried crutches, slings, wheelchairs, and splints.  We recorded the whole thing in our first individual blog posts.
